Europea Neo Brussels

Brussels, Belgium | 2012-

Gustafson Porter + Bowman’s work at Europea Neo Brussels creates a high-quality landscape within a new 68-hectare, high-end, mixed-use district surrounding the Roi Baudouin stadium.  Characterised by large public spaces, a series of water features, rest areas, promenades, playgrounds for children and a large 72000m2 shopping centre with restaurants and leisure facilities within, the scheme is dedicated to nature and people. This ‘smart city’ is estimated to receive 12-15 million visitors a year thanks to its spectacular offering and high standards of environmental design.

Development of the city must be organised to enable it to meet the great demographic, economic and social challenges of the next ten years, and to position itself firmly as a cosmopolitan metropolis and capital of Europe. The objective of this scheme is therefore to inject new life into the City of Brussels.
— Charles Picqué, Minister-President of the Brussels-Capital Region 2004-2013
Europea meshes perfectly with our policy of developing mixed urban projects in which the city and the district are re-configured, to the benefit of the resident. This multifunctional project will be a benchmark for cities of the future.
— Renaud Bentegeat, CFE
Européa is an exciting new element for Brussels and our landscape design aims to integrate the new district within the urban fabric and provide high-quality outdoor space for visitors and residents.
— Mary Bowman, Partner
Europea is an invention: a landscaped district and at the same time a place for living and a tourist destination.
